Maryland Racing Commission reports on race horse injuries
TOWSON, Md., March 12 () -- A report of the Maryland Racing Commission on the increase in the deaths of race horses advocates a tightening of safety protocols and increased study. The inquiry was motivated by the euthanization of 10 horses at the Laurel Park after injuries but the report Monday did not identify a cause for the rise in deaths, The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday. It noted since the time period studied by the commission, the 23 racing days between Jan. 9 to Feb. 15, more horses were injured at Laurel,Cheap Christian Louboutin, three last week."We're trying to be proactive in identifying the cause or causes, but at this point there doesn't seem to be one stand-alone factor," commission Chairman Bruce Quade said.Twenty-one horses were euthanized after injury in 2012 at Maryland's two thoroughbred tracks, Laurel and Pimlico, compared to 10 in 2011,Cheap Christian Louboutin, the newspaper said. The report did not find the Laurel track responsible, noting the injuries occurred at all parts of the facility.
