Student News A to Z with Carl Azuz
Worth Waiting For?
This Monday on CNN Student News,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you see people crowded around stores, packed outside malls, and camping outside buildings to buy something at retail price. Some of the folks I work with said there NO WAY they camp out for a pair of shoes (I wouldn But that doesn mean they haven waited in ridiculously long lines for other stuff,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], like concert tickets or electronics or Black Friday sales.
So what we like you to tell us is this: Is there anything you camp out to buy? What is worth the wait,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if that wait is overnight and outside in the cold?
I don't think I would camp out to buy anything on sale. Some of the sales are really good,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but some of those people get ridiculous. I wouldn't risk getting trampled to buy something that is half the price it usually is. If there was a concert that I really wanted to see,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then I might camp out for a little bit. I'm very picky though, so if it was really cold there is no way I would do it. I applaud the people who camp outside of stores and get those good deals. They have more endurance than I do.

Honestly I don have the motivation or the patience to stand outside,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially if it was freezing, just to buy something thats fresh on the shelf,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and is most likely ridiculously priced. I don think itd be worth spending the money on the premiere price of a product when it is first released, let alone camp outside and wait in line for the store doors to open. Whatever the reason is that people are motivated to pitch a tent and camp outside a store so they can hopefully get their hands on whatever new product they seeking, I sure hope it was worth it for them.

I have waited in line a couple of times, one instance were for the College World Series, it was blistering hot. I enjoyed the experience, but I was pretty miserable standing in line. There aren't many things I would stand in line for,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], maybe for another sporting event I would stand in line. Camping out is probably a little excessive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially for something as simple as shoes. I would rather pay the few extra dollars to get it on my own time than to sit in a line overnight. Just like Black Friday, people get in fights and stampede, that is ridiculous. Lines can cause more trouble than what they are worth.

I can understand waiting like that for phones ipods or and electronic but for shoes, clothing, or anything you can live without. My personal opinion is that go and get it when you have time because waiting in line for something we live without. But it is what they want so it is their problem. But it also can take time from their family, and what is way more important to most people then family? To me I rather wait till something is cheep and bye it then but it is their problem. Spend time with your family instead of in the cold at the mall in the middle of the night.

Nothing is worth staying out on the street or in a parking lot. All those things that people wait in line for will be available for a cheaper price just a few months down the road. I got an Iphone3 for 29.00 right before the Iphone4 came out, it fits my needs. I wanted a laptop so we waited a few months after Christmas and go it for 200.00 less than advertised during Black Friday. People always get hurt during the Black Friday stampedes so someone will end up paying doctor bills for the few pennies saved.

I would definetly wait in the cold overnight for Black Friday! That the only thing I would do,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], really. I the SALES kind of person. I usually at the clearance rack or sales rack. I would never buy one pair of pants or a shirt for over $20 dollars. Black Friday is the day that everything is on sale, like electronics, clothes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc. Black Friday is really the only day I spend all my money. That day is worth waiting outside overnight in the cold for. I done it before and it not that bad. As long as you have patience and food. And MONEY!!!

Well i read your blog and i ralized i would wait for a lot of things in cluding shoes. I have never waited in line for anything because i think if u can get what you want then you can get it any time realy. And plus if you get it then you have to pay like top dollar when you can wait like a couple months and get them for like half of what you pay a couple mothns before,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. People only get the new thing fast to brag to the people that dont have it yet or doesnt have the money for it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. But if you get it later you will probly use it more any way. Thanx for reading what i think of that.

I personally am a gamer. So if there was a new video game that had just about to be coming out and My mom pre-ordered it for me; I would be able to camp outside of the GameStop that is near my house. One time; I waited for Halo: Reach to be out at mid-night. I don bother for shoes. I can just go to Pay-for-less and have my mom buy some shoes from there. I think anyone out there who is a gamer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and loves to play video games; they should wait for any game that sounds interesting to them.
