PSU recommendation
Ok, here goes, full explanation:
One of the gifts I got for Xmas was Bioshock for my computer. At the time, I had a GeForce 6150SE graphics card (onboard), and thought that would be fine. After all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Guild Wars looked great, so surely it'd be enough, right?
Wrong! It was a slow,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], choppy mess, barely even playable. Planned on looking for a video card fit to do more than shine my shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and lucked out: a relative had a spare 8800gtx just sitting around,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], willing to just hand it over. Stuck it in,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fired up the system, everything turned out fine.
And then I tried playing Bioshock again. Graphics were wonderful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], smooth, perfect dare I say. But the computer completely blacked out after like a minute. No crash, I'm talking instantaneous friggin' power-OFF, as if I'd yanked the plug. Tried to play it a couple more times, figuring any real problem is repeatable, and yup,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], same thing.
The gist of the problem: my system is this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], plus the upgrades I've made in adding the 0404 and now the 8800gtx. Standard power supply is 300W, which is 100 less than the minimum requirement for running that graphics card. Whoops.
Out of curiosity at the connectors for my power supply (that is,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], without unhooking the computer and opening the case yet again), I looked up the model number. Apparently the connectors are equivalent to the ones on this (click "specifications")*. So to drill down, I need something 400W or higher,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with those connectors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that will fit in this case.
Any recommendations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? Preferably something less than triple digits in dollars.
(* - yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I noticed the reviews for that one say it sucks, that's not the point. I'm not looking for that model or even that brand,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], just something that has the same type of connections so I don't have to hunt down cables too)
Edit: attached a full dump of system info below, in case you need even more information (ignore the video card entry of course,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since I've changed it).
