Reality TV is a sham. Do people really think a team of smiling organizers; contractors and flower-in-their-hair television hosts will show up at their door; take one look around before sending them on their way with a kiss on the cheek and an airline ticket?
Get real! It's one thing to admit you need help getting organized; it's another thing altogether to enter a contest and then succumb to a whirlwind 10-hour day with a professional organizer who makes you sweat right alongside her. And then wait while an organizing cabinetry company measures your spaces, and then wait again for them to arrive.
But that's exactly what our winners, Lee Horton and Belinda Alvarez did. The contest guidelines asked for photos and a brief narrative describing why they thought they should win. next Friday, Sept. 30.
Looking at the original entry photos, I kept thinking something was amiss; it wasn't until I set foot in the house and saw boxes of shoes strewn everywhere that reality hit.

Although we received numerous entries exhibiting closets more chaotic than the one ultimately selected,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there were other criteria - most importantly the willingness to get rid of stuff - that were taken into consideration.
My mantra, "everything has a place and a place for everything" took on new meaning as we sorted through multiple boxes, bins and dressers in an attempt to declutter, consolidate and make room. With very few exceptions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Belinda and Lee trusted me to help them make the right decisions.
His side: Eleven bins, filled with "stuff" were relegated to the home office. Lee promises to sort through the boxes until everything is either sold on eBay, tossed out or stored someplace other than the master closet.

I decided the most effective way to organize the master closet would be to separate the Lee and Belinda so they could make decisions on their own with my guidance.
