Mitt Romney comes with an empathy problem. Regardless of whether he's actually an empathetic guy, Mr. Romney remains the son of a wealthy man who then recently made another fortune buying companies and firing people. He's still the guy who says that questions about income inequality add up to the sin of envy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he's still the guy who seems to the words "I enjoy being able to fire people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he's still the guy who offers up a $10,000 bet to prove his point. He's still the guy who drove to Canada with the family dog in a kennel on top of the vehicle and who taken care of immediately evidence of the household dog's distress by stopping at a carwash to rinse it away.
Currently of great economic distress, this is a problem for any presidential candidate.
Yesterday on the program,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Steve Kornacki of Salon talked about Mr. Romney's empathy problem and the photo Salon posted yesterday -- they took it for Mr. Romney getting a shoeshine, when in fact he's getting wanded by security. Today, Steve asks whether a photograph like this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of Mr. Romney seated and smiling in his nice suit while a uniformed worker bee toils away,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], could be such a problem for a different of candidate:

A Republican nominee running on the same platform but lacking Romney aristocratic bearing could more credibly reassure voters that he not doing the bidding of plutocrats.

It's just a candidate who's available towards the charge that he's too rich and too committed to being rich to understand your lifetime. Search for the White House to maintain taking advantage of that with more talk about income inequality.

Lets stop this 99% silliness with Presidents. None in our Presidents including the current one are area of the 99%. Both Democrat and Republican Senators and Presidents are area of the 1% in addition to most house reps. It doesn't make a bit of difference which party the President comes from. Money from the 1% seeks the leading contenders of both sides. Obama will raise $1 billion for his reelection. Obama has received more in contributions from Bain Capital than Romney. Obama's former biggest money hauler - Jon Corzine would be a former head of Goldman Sachs, Democrat Senator and Governor of New Jersey and can soon visit jail for his role in misappropriating billions of clients dollars.

Whether this was a shoe shine or a private shoe wanding, still it stinks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and merely shows how out of touch Mr. It highlights his priorities, my baggage goes in the automobile,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], my dog who depends on me for everything gets put on top of the car in a crate. Something I think Romney lacks is typical Sense and Empathy, as evidenced with this story. Wouldn't it have made more sense to place the dog in a car and strap the baggage, etc. to the roof?

while growing up, my family too had a similar station wagon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but packed with 8 kids. the baggage continued the roof in a home-made luggage carrier that was streamlined and covered the entire roof of the car. we did not have your dog at the time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but when we did,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you can be damn sure he'd happen to be within the car with the remainder of us.
