Another night, another injured dancer on "So You Think You Can Dance." After rehearsals on Monday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ashley Galvan was taken to the hospital with rib pain, so she's been advised not to dance that night. That means she'll be in the bottom three tomorrow night, and if she makes it through but still can't dance, she's out of the show. The same thing happened to frontrunner Alex Wong last week. Is Lauren wearing garlic bulbs in her hair? No disrespect to the Tahitian people, but that was one of the silliest-looking thing I've ever seen on this show. High energy, certainly, but silly. "I have no idea what to say," Nigel Lythgoe laughs. He can barely keep a straight face. He admits that technically, he has no idea how to judge that. If he can't judge it, maybe they shouldn't perform it. Mia Michaels says Lauren looked like a duck in heat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that's a good thing. Adam Shankman thinks she was spectacular.
AdeChike Torbert with Anya Garnis, salsa choreographed by Liz Lira and Danny Davalos: Did AdeChike almost drop her in the opening moments? From what Nigel says, no, apparently not. That was choreography! I'm an AdeChike fan, but I thought he looked like he was thinking way too hard about those moves,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Nigel says he really pulled it off. Mia gives a mixed review: She liked some of the tricks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the fluidity wasn't there at points. Adam thinks he pulled it off.
Jose Ruiz with Courtney Galiano,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Broadway choreographed by Joey Dowling: Jose didn't have that much to do in this very slight number, and didn't do much with it. And the judges notice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], although Nigel seems to blame Joey for not giving him a chance to show off his personality. "We've made a mistake with Jose on this," Nigel tells him. "I don't think you danced that very well at all." "I can't even look at you right now," Mia says, looking at Jose's sad face. The technique wasn't there, and he should have infused his forlorn stagehand with a glimmer of hope, she says. Adam gets constructive: He needs to stretch more and generally be sharper.
Robert Roldan with Allison Holker, contemporary choreographed by Travis Wall: I don't know if I'd necessary feel the same way about the routine without the backstory, but I thought it was very heartbreakingly beautiful, particularly the ending,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when Robert took over Allison's movement. The choreography was transcendent, and viewers have to be crazy if they put Robert in the bottom three again, Nigel says. Mia is crying -- her mother died shortly before the season began -- and says that the dance was "bigger than anything right now." Adam says that Travis should get an Emmy nomination, and called Robert's performance one of the best of the season. "I just literally on national television blew a snot bubble from crying," he says.
Billy Bell with Anya Garnis, jive choreographed by Louis Van Amstel: "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" should be treated with a little more respect than that. It was such a disjointed musical edit that it distracted from the choreography. Nigel nitpicks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but says overall he worked hard, particularly at partnering, and looked good. Mia thought he was stellar,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and there was no awkwardness at all. He was connected, committed, and in charge, Adam says.
Kent Boyd with Neil Haskell, Broadway choreographed by Tyce DiOrio: It's a routine about baseball. I was all prepared to be completely cheesed out, but I actually enjoyed it. It was fun, effortless, and really played to Kent's aw-shucks persona,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but he didn't overdo it. I even think Kent outdanced the All-Star, and Nigel agrees with me. He says Kent knocked the ball out of the park. Mia "loves boys,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," and applauded the partnering. Adams says Kent nailed it.
Lauren and Billy, jazz choreographed by Mandy Moore: Absolutely freaking adorable. I don't know what it had to do with magic shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but whatev. Nigel praises them for their partnering skills, and he thinks jazz fits Billy well. Mia says it was the cutest thing ever. "Happy-making," Adam pronounces. He says Billy got caught up in the dance for once,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is what Adam has been wanting to see.
Jose with Dominic Sandoval, b-boy choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D'Uomo: Because of the odd number of dancers (until Ashley hurt herself, that is), Jose had to dance his second number with an All-Star, and it JUST SO HAPPENED to be hip-hop dancer Dominic. It JUST SO HAPPENED that the least versatile and technically proficient dancer that the judges JUST SO HAPPEN to love gets to dance in his own genre. Hmmmm. And yet it looked like Dominic totally dominated him, so what does that say about Jose's skills? But Nigel and Adam thinks he redeemed himself and while Mia says he could use some fine-tuning, she thinks it was awesome.
Adechike and Kent,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], contemporary choreographed by Dee Caspary: Kent is in love with an IKEA chair, er,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], woman who's no good for him, AdeChike is his best friend who's trying to get him out of the relationship. It is quite lovely, and they seem very evenly matched. Nigel actually has some AdeChike love, singling out his leap, and Kent gets kudos for underplaying it. Nigel even says he could take the crown, now that Alex is out. Mia says Kent is getting stronger week by week, and Mia, so hard on AdeChike before, says she was praying that it would be a good week for him, and it was. Adam says the routine was dance lesson for him.
Robert and Kathryn McCormick, disco choreographed by Doriana Sanchez. All-Star Kathryn steps in for Anya. Nigel says really good disco can make you throw up. I feel exactly the same way. Oh, he means it makes the dancer want to throw up because it's so relentless. Nigel loved it and felt it was very strong and masculine. Mia loved it but never wants to see Robert do it again. "If you're going to wear an outfit like that, you have to bring that masculine weight to the movement, and it just felt really thin for me." Adam felt he sold the dance.
